Fools On Sunday : The Best We Can Do
Fools on Sunday is a NY rock band which serves as the music vehicle of Evan Seligman, all of age 14. Evan is multi-instrumental and writes/arranges all the original material for the group. For live performance he is the group’s lead (and only) singer and drummer. The singer’s father – Marc Seligman on bass guitar. The lineup is rounded off by guitarist Louis Mottola.
In late 2008, Marc Seligman received a call from his high school friend Stuart Lederer who was at the time living in Nashville, TN. Stu informed Marc that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer, and some doctors felt he had little time left. He then told Marc that if he had to go, he wanted it to be doing what he loved the most. Playing rock and roll music. Marc was more than willing to comply with Stu’s request; however he had one of his own. That his son, Evan Seligman , a budding musician, be allowed to sit in on drums. They began regular Sunday jam sessions in Astoria, NY. Fools on Sunday were born.
A chance opportunity to fill in at an audition night(just days before Evan’s 12th birthday) at The Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, NY, led to an opening slot to warm up for the 80′s new wave hitmakers Missing Persons at the same venue. While Stu was suffering greatly at the time from radical treatments, he refused to let his physical ailments prevent him from performing on stage.
As luck would have it, Stuart’s health began to improve, and Evan began writing his own brand of basic rock and roll tunes. The band self-released an EP in January of 2010, which has sold through it’s first two pressings.
